Kiela is the brainchild of Jan Kiela. The company was founded on 16 October 1939 in Rotterdam. On 23 October 1941, Jan married Evelien Hess. She successfully supported her husband in further expanding the business, especially in assembly and metal processing. Bonbon dishes, ashtrays and metal stoves were among the first products.

In 1950, Kiela entered into a partnership with the then Indola and thanks to this cooperation, the production programme was expanded to include hairdressing equipment. The accompanying increase in production activities necessitated the move to a new location. Jan Kiela bought an old grain factory in Driebruggen and decided to convert it into a factory. Kiela produced at this location until 2010.

From the very beginning, hairdressing furniture was manufactured in-house. Kiela built a good reputation as a reliable supplier of high-quality furniture. In the early 1970s, the two sons Ger and John Kiela took over the management of the company. The brothers ran the company together until John passed away on 20 October 1991.

In the 1980s, the Kiela hairdressing furniture collection expanded further and started exporting outside Europe.

In the 1990s, exports were expanded to the Far East. Product development did not stand still either. The development of the Aquadynamic with telescopic adjustable sink was protected with Patent. This mechanism is still unrivalled.

Between 2004 and 2010, Kiela built new production facilities at its current location and opened its new showroom and development department

To this day, all development and production processes are carried out in-house. The processing of metal and wooden parts, cladding parts and assembly all take place under our own roof with the aim of offering our customers the best possible products and the best possible service.

Following the death of Ger Kiela on 27 February 2015, Jan Kiela's grandchildren (third generation) now run the company and share the same core values passed down from generation to generation. They see it as their responsibility to pass on an even better company to the next generation of owners, employees and customers and contribute to a world worth living in.

Our products are developed and produced at our factory in Driebruggen. None of our products are mass-produced; all our products are made individually for each customer. Quality should be felt and experienced. That is why, by buying high-quality products, you can be sure to offer your customers the same quality experience. You will feel this quality not only upon delivery, but also in the years that follow. That is why we offer a 5-year construction warranty on all our products.

In our production activities, we always consider people, animals and the environment. We therefore manufacture our products in the Netherlands and have designed our processes so that these values remain central. Our products are manufactured in compliance with all applicable environmental standards. We try to ensure that our suppliers are as local as possible. We take care of the transport of incoming and outgoing goods ourselves as much as possible so that we can combine deliveries where possible. In this way, we avoid unnecessary transport and spare the environment.

When developing our products, we strive to increase the seating comfort for customers and working comfort for hairdressers. Our aim is to achieve comprehensive duty of care, which is the basis for purchasing high-quality products.

Part of our core values is to develop attractive products designed by our Dutch designers. That is why we now stock countless design classics that are still very popular even after decades. We create timeless designs intended to bring lasting pleasure.
